Vista Animal Hospital is a small animal veterinary practice which has been locally owned and operated by Dr. David Schulz since 1991. Our goal is to service the various pet care needs of our local bench community and surrounding area. Many of our clients are friends who have been coming to our veterinarians through the years. We pride ourselves in providing high quality and experienced individualized care.
Before becoming a veterinarian, Dr. Schoeberl earned a B.S. in Biology at the University of Oregon. She worked for 2 years as a hydrologist for the USGS, which included spending time at marine fisheries. After this experience, Dr. Schoeberl decided to pursue a career involving animals, and she earned a D.V.M. from Oregon State University in 1997. She completed a veterinary internship in Sacramento, California, before joining the Vista Animal Hospital team in 1998.
Dr. Schoeberl enjoys figuring out complex cases, and her interests include internal medicine, acupuncture, and ultrasound. Dr. Schoeberl lives in Boise with her two sons, two dogs, and a cat. When she's not working, Dr. Schoeberl enjoys being outdoors. She likes to spend her free time gardening, biking, and camping.
"Pets are such an important part of people's lives, and I love working to promote their well-beings. It's not a small thing to be entrusted with an animal's care and I get that people want their animals to live comfortably but not be oversold on medications and treatments. I truly enjoy being a veterinarian" - Dr. Bev Schoeberl
Dr. Schulz began his career as an accountant, but after working at a financial firm for a year he decided to go back to school. He had always been interested in science and enjoyed being around animals, so he applied for veterinary school and earned his D.V.M. from Washington State University in 1988. Dr. Schulz worked at a clinic in Tacoma, Washington, before moving back to his home state of Idaho, where he began working at Vista Animal Hospital. He purchased the clinic in 1991. Dr. Schulz's interests include surgery, orthopedics, and wound management.
When asked what he loves about being a veterinarian, Dr. Schulz said,
"Successfully helping someone with their animal. First, you have to understand the medicine and the healing processes. You have to be able to work with people and their emotional and financial constraints and, most importantly, the physical and mental well-being of the patient. Then, you put it all together and come up with the best possible outcome you can have. The ultimate reward is helping an animal and its owner. That's why we do it." - Dr. Dave Schulz
Dr. Heather Wright first began working for Vista Animal Hospital in 2008 while she was a student at Boise State University. After she completed her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Washington State University in 2015, she gladly returned and has been a proud member of the veterinary team ever since. She enjoys building relationships with her patients and helping pet owners care for their animals to ensure long and healthy lives. Her particular interests include orthopedic and soft tissue surgery, dentistry, and internal medicine.
When not in the office, Dr. Wright and her husband enjoy camping, hiking, exploring the outdoors, and having fun with their dogs. She is passionate about dog training and loves competing in agility trials.
Dr. Parker Cendejas started at Vista Animal Hospital in 2019, working during academic breaks while enrolled at University of Idaho. After graduating from Washington State University with his D.V.M. in 2024, he jumped at the chance to re-join the team. He enjoys the opportunities to help and educate that come with the veterinary profession, and the reward of seeing people share their lives with happy, healthy animals. His interests include surgery, orthopedics, and helping those interested in careers in veterinary medicine to realize their potential.
Outside of work, he enjoys exploring the Boise Greenbelt and Foothills on foot and on bike, strength training, and (occasionally) sneaking away to a beach or a mountain lake somewhere.
