The house at 1985 S. Vista was built in 1936, and in 1981 it was transformed into a veterinary clinic. Since then, the clinic has undergone several expansions and multiple updates. The Vista Animal Hospital now houses three exam rooms, a surgery room, medical imaging equipment, an in-house laboratory, and a fenced yard and kennel areas for pets staying at the clinic.
The Vista Animal Hospital is proud to provide opportunities for students pursing careers in veterinary medicine. There are often 2-3 college students studying Pre-Veterinary Medicine employed at the Vista Animal Hospital, where they gain hands-on experience in a clinical setting. Through working at the clinic, students receive training and mentoring that prepares them for careers in the field. As of 2016, 11 students from the Vista Animal Hospital have been admitted to veterinary medicine programs.
In addition, the Vista Animal Hospital serves as a preceptor site for Washington State University's College of Veterinary Medicine. During their clinical rotations, students learn about current veterinary practices and procedures along with clinic management. Through this program, students gain experience while receiving guidance and training from experienced veterinarians.
