The practice of acupuncture originated in China and has been used for centuries in traditional Chinese medicine. Acupuncture involves inserting very fine needles into the skin at specific anatomical points to stimulate nerves and tissues, which causes the body to release pain mediators and improve circulation to the tissues.

At the Vista Animal Hospital, Dr. Schoeberl offers acupuncture as a treatment option and has used it to successfully provide pain relief and to promote healing for many of our patients.

Just like people, pets often experience allergies caused by allergens in the environment, the products used on or around them, and ingredients in their food. There are many different symptoms of allergies depending on the cause, but a few common symptoms include unusual amounts of scratching or licking, unhealthy skin, itchy or watery eyes, and sneezing. If your pet is suffering from an allergy, we will work with you to identify the cause and provide treatment options based on your pet’s needs.

At the Vista Animal Hospital, we take an integrated approach when it comes to diagnosing and treating our patients. We consider the whole-body health of a patient, not just an isolated symptom. We also provide options for alternative therapies when we believe they will be beneficial to a patient. Dr. Schoeberl is trained in both acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine, and Dr. Zahller uses essential oils to help address medical and behavioral concerns.

Oral health is just as important for pets as it is for people. Regular teeth cleaning and dental exams ensure that your pet will be able to keep using his or her teeth for years to come. We provide preventative dental care as well as oral surgery and additional treatment options for pets that experience dental pain or discomfort.

The Vista Animal Hospital uses on-site x-ray and ultrasound imaging to help diagnose medical concerns. In cases where different forms of diagnostic imaging are needed, such as MRI or CT scans, we provide referrals to providers who offer these services.

When it’s time to euthanize a pet, we offer house calls so they can pass on quietly in the comfort of their homes, surrounded by their families.

The Vista Animal Hospital uses a number of laboratory tests to help diagnose medical concerns. We are typically able to run blood work, urine, and tissue sample tests on-site and receive results the same day. In cases where more advanced laboratory testing is needed, we send samples to a reference laboratory.

For pets who require hospitalization due to a serious injury, illness, or surgery, we provide in-patient care. Hospitalized pets are carefully monitored and receive medications and fluids that will aid in their recovery.

Through listening to our clients’ observations of their pets’ behaviors at home, performing thorough physical examinations, and carefully monitoring pets for symptoms, our veterinarians diagnose and treat a wide range of illnesses and injuries. They review each pet’s medical history, changes in their lives, and attributes of their breed and age in order to determine the best approach for each individual case. We provide personalized care and believe it is essential to consider the overall health and well-being of each pet as we proceed through treatment.

What a pet eats greatly influences their overall health. Our veterinarians provide information to help pet owners decide which foods will be best for their pets based on age, activity level, and dietary needs. We are always happy to answer questions about your pet’s diet and to discuss how their dietary needs may change over time.

In addition to soft tissue surgery, our veterinarians perform orthopedic procedures for pets needing surgery on their bones, joints, and the surrounding cartilage and tissues. Our surgery facilities are equipped with state of the art equipment, and our veterinarians use up-to-date procedures and techniques to ensure the most effective outcomes. During and after surgery, our patients are carefully monitored, and we do everything we can to ensure a smooth recovery.

As pets grow older, their healthcare needs change. For instance, many pets experience eyesight and hearing loss, an increase in dental issues, and pain caused by arthritis. When your senior pet begins to experience pain or discomfort caused by aging, we provide options to help them stay comfortable and healthy as they grow older. We are always happy to answer questions and can also discuss your senior pet’s changing diet and exercise needs.

While the Vista Animal Hospital provides a wide range of services, sometimes patients benefit from seeing a specialist for particular health concerns or treatment options. When this happens, we provide referrals so that your pet will receive the best possible care for his or her individual needs.

From spaying and neutering to tumor removal, our veterinarians perform a number of surgeries each week. Our surgery facilities are equipped with state of the art equipment, and our veterinarians use up-to-date procedures and techniques to ensure the most effective outcomes. During and after surgery, our patients are carefully monitored, and we do everything we can to ensure a smooth recovery.

We provide annual wellness exams, vaccinations, and preventative care options to ensure your pet stays healthy and happy.
